WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Advancing Equality through Dignified Livelihoods

Since its inception in 1989, Development Action Society (DAS) has been a steadfast advocate for women’s rights and empowerment. Our mission is rooted in creating pathways that help women break free from cycles of poverty, hazardous work, and social exclusion—and instead build dignified, secure, and meaningful lives.

From Hazard to Dignity

One of the greatest challenges DAS has addressed is the transition of women from unsafe, degrading jobs—such as daily wage labor at dumping grounds—into respectable and sustainable livelihoods. Through consistent outreach, training, and opportunity-building, many women have embraced alternative livelihoods, proving that with the right support, transformation is not only possible but powerful.

Breaking Stereotypes with Women on Wheels (WOW)

A flagship initiative in our women’s empowerment efforts is the Women on Wheels (WOW) Programme, launched in 2018. This program is a bold step toward gender equality, challenging societal norms by encouraging women to take on roles traditionally dominated by men.
